In total, Vellutini took 12 shots throughout the year with six being on frame. However, for the first time in her career, Carla was kept off the score sheets as she finished the season without a point. She took a season-high four shots, three on goal, in the Tigers' 3-0 win over Long Island on August 27. After the season, Vellutini garnered her second straight All-Conference Academic team award for her work off the field.2005 (Sophomore):<br>For the second season in a row, Vellutini missed just one game as she sat out the Tigers' final regular season game against UC Davis. She played in 19 games in her junior season while starting 18 of those contests. From the midfield, Carla produced a career-best three goals, finishing as the third leading point scorer on the team with eight (three goals and two assists). She posted her second career game-winning goal on September 25, as Carla scored the only goal of the game in Pacific's 1-0 shutout of San Diego. Before that strike, Vellutini scored in back-to-back games, netting the Tigers' first goal in their 2-1 win over San Francisco on August 28 and the game-tying goal against No. 20 Washington on September 2. In addition to her scoring, Vellutini added two assists on the season, tallying her first assist in the Tigers' 2-1 win over San Jose State on September 11. Both of Carla's assists came to the benefit of her classmate, Mandi Van Dorn. Off the field, Vellutini garnered her first Academic All-Big West Conference team recognition off her career.2004 (Freshman):<br>Carla missed just one game during her freshman campaign, playing in 18 games for the Tigers while starting nine in 2004. Taking three shots during the season, Vellutini posted one goal on the season, the game-winning goal against Idaho on October 1, giving the Tigers' their first conference win of the season. Carla's other shots came at Nebraska and at UC Santa Barbara.High School:<br>Carla attended Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento, Calif., where she lettered in soccer for each of her four years. During her junior and senior seasons, she led the Falcons to consecutive Sierra Valley League championships and a section championship in her final season. For her play on the field, Carla was named to the all-league team three times and the all-city team once. Off the field, Carla was an honor roll student and was recognized with a De La Salle Art Exhibit Award.Club Team:<br>Vellutini has played for the Elk Grove United and the women's Elk Grove Pride team of the WPSL. She played a critical part in 2003's U-19 State and Regional Championship team and the team's run towards the California State Premier League championship in 2004.Personal:<br>Born in Sacramento, Calif., she is the daughter of Frank and Carrie Vellutini. Carla has two siblings, Dina and Leo. She plans to graduate with a degree in literary arts with an elementary school teaching credential.
